Wilkin County Jail

Wilkin County Jail & Law Enforcement Center was completed in August 2006.
  • 21 Bed Jail Facility
  • 5 Full-Time Correctional Officers
  • 3 Part-Time Correctional Officers

 

Mission Statement

The Wilkin County Jail shall provide for, in a cost-effective manner, the confinement of persons sentenced to jail by competent authority or those suspected of being offenders of the law as described in the Minnesota State Statutes.  Safety for the citizen's of Wilkin County, Wilkin County Jail Staff, and inmates will be provided.


The Wilkin County Jail provides for the safe, secure, and humane detention of offenders in Wilkin County.


To fulfill this responsibility, the Wilkin County Jail shall follow the standards established by the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Minnesota State Statutes, and the United States Constitution.


The philosophy of the Wilkin County Jail is based upon these assumptions:

  • The staff is our greatest resource and we will provide training to accomplish a safe,secure, and humane environment.
  • All persons are held accountable for their behavior.
  • The preservation of basic human rights and dignity of the public, staff, and inmates is of utmost importance.
  • An atmosphere that encourages positive responsible individuals returning to our community is of importance.

 

The Wilkin County Jail is an integral part of the criminal justice system.  We strive to cooperate with other agencies, promote mutual respect, and welcome community involvement.  We are a credit to our profession and a source of pride to Wilkin County.
